Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Aligned. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use Aligned.

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You must be legally able to enter into this agreement, and not barred from using the service under applicable law.
• You must not have been convicted of a felony or an indictable offence involving violence or a sexual offence, and must not be required to register as a sex offender.
• One account per person. Accounts are personal and may not be transferred.

You are responsible for what you post and for keeping your account secure. You retain ownership of your content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display it for the purpose of operating and improving the service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to reasonable backup periods.

You confirm that you have the right to share everything you upload, and that your photos genuinely depict you.

Aligned creates an AI persona trained on the information you provide, which other members may converse with before matching. By using the service you agree that:

• Your AI may share information you have provided, subject to the privacy controls available to you, including marking individual facts as private.
• AI-generated responses are automated and may be imperfect. They are not statements made by you personally, and you should not rely on another member's AI as a statement of fact about them.
• You will not attempt to manipulate, extract data from, reverse-engineer or otherwise misuse another member's AI, or use it to build a competing product.
• You are responsible for what you choose to teach your AI.

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, defame, stalk, impersonate or abuse anyone.
• Post content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, or that exploits or endangers anyone.
• Solicit money, promote commercial activity, or use the service for advertising or recruitment.
• Misrepresent your identity, age or photographs.
• Share another member's private information or conversations without their consent.
• Use bots, scrapers or automated means to access the service, or attempt to circumvent security or usage limits.

Our Community Guidelines set this out in full and form part of these terms.

We may remove content, restrict features, suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, and we may report unlawful conduct to the authorities.

Aligned does not conduct criminal background checks. Photo verification confirms that a member's photos depict the person holding the device; it is not an identity check. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other members. Take sensible precautions: meet in public, tell someone where you are going, and do not send money to anyone you have met on the service. Our Safety Centre covers this in detail.

• Aligned offers a free tier and paid memberships (Plus and Select), plus one-time add-ons such as invitation packs and profile boosts.
• Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and are subject to their terms. Prices are set and displayed by those stores and may vary by region.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours beforehand. Manage or cancel through your store account settings.
• Refunds are handled by the store you purchased through, in line with its policy. We may grant discretionary refunds but are not obliged to.
• Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a subscription. Cancel it through your store.
• Aligned Select requires an application and a verified profile. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee admission.
• Paid features do not guarantee matches, dates or any particular outcome.

We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We may update these terms; if changes are material we will give notice in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Aligned after that means you accept the updated terms.

You may stop using Aligned and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms or if we reasonably believe your conduct puts other members at risk. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will do so.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aligned is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

If a dispute arises, contact us first at legal@aligned.app — most issues are resolved quickly. Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of the country where you live, including the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
